Kids Cancer Foundation of South Florida

The Kids Cancer Foundation strives to deliver an unsurpassed level of quality of care

Palm Beach County is one of the wealthiest counties of Florida and yet the cancer services provided for our youngest and sickest residents lag far behind, forcing families to travel when their children are the most vulnerable. This needs to change.

Click an item below to expand an explanation: Patient Care Navigator

The Patient Care Navigator is a certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse who understands the complexity of the medical and social needs of patients and families and will provide the following services:

  • Responsible for facilitating care from diagnosis, throughout treatment, to discharge from care.
  • Evaluate the educational needs of the patient and his/her family.
  • Provide education to the patient and family regarding diagnosis, medications and specific treatment plan & reinforce any teaching that patients and families have previously received.
  • Assess other medical and supportive care needs specific to the patient and family and make appropriate referrals.
  • Re-evaluate the medical and supportive care needs of the patient and family by meeting with them on an on-going basis.
  • Work collaboratively with other medical and supportive care providers in the hospital and the community to ensure that seamless care is provided to patients and families
  • Facilitate financial assistance when needed.
  • Provide community education and promote awareness of childhood cancer and blood disorders.
Kids Can Volunteer Program

Kids Can Volunteer Program coordinates and trains adult and teenage volunteers who:

  • Assist the play program in the hospital and outpatient area.
  • Help in the administrative office with special projects.
  • Provide "extra hands" at fundraising events.
Kids Helping Kids Program

Kids Helping Kids Program allows students in our schools to join together for this worthy cause by selling Bravery Heart Necklaces to support local children who are undergoing treatment for cancer or a serious blood disorder.

Legacy Bead Program

Legacy Bead Program allows children with cancer or a serious blood disorder to collect a different bead for each procedure or event. The collection of beads represents each child's unique and personal journey through treatment.

Family Socials Program

Family Socials Program invites patients and families of children who have been diagnosed with cancer or a serious blood disorder to a fun and entertaining "non-hospital" event.

  • Socials give families the opportunity to connect, bond and support other families going through similarly tough times.
  • Socials take place outside of the hospital and are strictly fun. However, they offer a therapeutic benefit by connecting patients and families to other patients and families.

Playmobile Portable Playroom

A colorful cart that is kept stocked by the Foundation with video games, toys, board games, books and arts & crafts. The cart is portable so it can be taken into the Infusion Area or rooms of patients that are either too sick to leave their rooms to play or are in isolation.
